What does a Trimmer do?

Some of the duties you perform as a trimmer are marking and discarding materials that have a defect, cutting excess threads, shaping and trimming patterns, marking lines, and laying out material for cutting. While on the job, you perform a number of physical tasks that require lifting heavy machinery or materials. Trimmers should have skills in planning, organizing, and prioritizing so you finish important work first, saving you a lot of time. You’re also responsible for the inspection of machinery and processes, as well as documentation of information. Trimmers set up trimming machines and equipment.

Trimmers need good hand-eye coordination and physical fitness, as this can be a risky job. You need a high school diploma or equivalent to become a trimmer.
