Controls equipment to record sound originating on motion-picture set, using magnetic film, optical film, and acetate disk recording equipment: Tests and sets up recording mechanism according to specifications. Starts recorder and synchronizes sound with film. Observes operation to ensure that sound is properly recorded. May be designated according to equipment used as Disk Recordist; Film Recordist.
