Summary

Tackle legal cases involving environmental damage.

What does an Environmental Lawyer do?

Every person gets his day in court. As an Environmental Lawyer, you see to it that nature gets its day as well. From the wildlife harmed by deforestation to a family whose child has fallen ill from chemicals that a local company is dumping in the water, you seek justice whether your clients go on two feet or four paws.

It’s not enough to pass a law on environmental protection. For a law to work, it must be enforced. As an Environmental Lawyer, your clients typically consist of families and individuals filing a class action lawsuit against a corporation, or organizations that want to see environmental regulations enforced.

Despite being a Lawyer, you spend the majority of your time in your office preparing instead of inside a courtroom debating. Researching relevant laws, past trials, and details of the cases you plan to undertake is crucial if you want to win – and it’s a safe bet that you do! Once you’ve read all the documents related to current issues, it’s time to write your own documents and fill out the proper legal forms to settle the case.

In court itself, you present your case and interview relevant people or witnesses to prove your point. You’ll win some and you’ll lose some, but the point is you keeping trying. As an Environmental Lawyer, your hard work pays off in the form of a healthy planet and healthy people.
