Arts Integration Coordinator

Find ways to promote learning through art.

What does an Arts Integration Coordinator do?

In the past 10 or so years, arts integration has experienced a growth within schools systems across the nation, as Educators recognize the philosophy that children learn better when they’re exposed to information through art. Arts Integration Coordinators promote this idea by initiating, managing, and continually improving access to, and availability of, arts integration opportunities.

When you’re an Arts Integration Coordinator, Teachers, Principals, and other Educators rely on you to research different types of techniques. Perhaps the children will dance while learning their ABCs, or act out a story to enhance comprehension. The idea is that movement, sound, and music sharpen math, writing, and reading skills, as well as improving social behavior.

The key to the best results is connecting the right tool with a particular subject. So, you use your knowledge of those philosophies to make recommendations.

Understanding the evolving world of arts integration means that part of your duties as an Arts Integration Coordinator involves continuing your education in the field. You might travel to conferences or read literature on the subject, for example. You might also play the part of Teacher and train staff in arts integration techniques. In addition to studying and teaching, you’ll get a chance to flex your written and oral communication skills, as well as your ability to relate to children.
