Inspects mechanical and structural construction and installation, and monitors operational testing of aircraft catapults and arresting gear systems used on aircraft carriers, according to contract specifications: Examines system components, such as pumps, valves, cables, and air and steam lines for defects and faulty installation. Compares operational functioning with contract specifications to ensure serviceability and safety. Tests questionable components, using standard instruments and gauges. Monitors operational testing of equipment and assists in determining causes of malfunctioning equipment. Prepares reports of findings to facilitate modifications.
